The 2010 GHSA softball season is nearly four weeks old, and thus far the north Fulton story lines are similar to past seasons.

At the top of the ledger is Blessed Trinity, which once again finds itself among the Class-AA elite with a 9-1 record entering the week.

The Lady Titans, ranked No. 4, have provided plenty of offense and have received three shutouts from the pitching staff en route to some impressive early-season wins over the likes of Hillgrove, Ridgeland and Dade County.

Haley Chrismon has been a star for head coach Jan Podhorez. The junior is hitting well over .400 at the plate and is 4-0 as a pitcher with a 1.07 ERA.

“We’re definitely off to an incredible start...building on our past tradition,” said Podhorez. “It’s a hard-working, talented group…I know that our future for this season is very bright.”

In 6AAAAA, Milton (6-4) trailed only West Forsyth in the region standings entering the week. The Lady Eagles have sprinted to a 5-1 region mark behind a number of convincing victories and narrow wins over North Forsyth and Alpharetta. Milton gets a rematch at West Forsyth on Sept. 21, after losing to the Lady Wolverines, 6-5, on Aug. 26.

Sledding has been rough for the remaining Class-AAAAA north Fulton teams. Roswell, Alpharetta, Northview and Centennial had combined for just nine wins against 28 defeats as of Monday morning, with the Lady Knights still searching for their first win of the season.

Johns Creek (7-8-1) and Chattahoochee (5-5-1) are new members of 7AAAA-B. The Lady Gladiators currently rank third in the six-team sub-region with a 2-2 mark, while the Lady Cougars are searching for their first region win. ‘Hooch, however, did manage a strong showing in the Watermelon Invitational two weekends ago in Cordele, with three victories.

The Mount Pisgah Lady Patriots are off to a good start in head coach Haley Henry’s first year at the helm. Pisgah (7-3) enters Thursday’s game at region rival King’s Ridge in second place in Region 5A with a 2-0 mark. Pitching has been solid, as the Lady Pats have held eight of 10 opponents thus far to three runs or less.
